Soundfly is throwing its very first concert— Soundfly Sessions. We’re hosting it on January 28 at the eclectic New York City music venue (le) poisson rouge in Greenwich Village, a stage that’s seen such stupendous acts as Lorde, Philip Glass, Nico Muhly, Paul Simon, Erykah Badu, and like a million others.
What’s the idea behind this? Well, imagine a cross between an awesome block party and MTV’s unplugged from the ’90s. Basically, we’re going to be throwing all sorts of amazing acts your way from funk/punk friends Evolfo with their bright, horn-based dance music to the ethereal and beautiful loop-master Julia Easterlin to the off-kilter Afro-Cuban-world-pop guitarist Delicate Steve to the ridiculous beatboxing plus strings mastery of the Stone Forest Ensemble. Plus, lots of surprise acts along the way.
What ties this whole thing together? The idea of the evening is to celebrate distinct voices in music in order to inspire YOU to find your own unique sound. We’re out to help you find your sound, and what better way to do that than expose you to some totally wild, unusual, but epically entertaining acts from across the spectrum.
We hope you’ll walk out with about a million ideas and a renewed commitment to pick up whatever instrument you love most and just wail on it.
We hope to see you there!
