style=”text-align: center;”>New course announcement!
Hey producers! We’ve got a brand new online course that will take you deep into the world of synthesis and help you create better-sounding patches to enliven your tracks. And it’s probably the most in-depth course we’ve ever done.
If you’re tired of using the same old presets, or you’re looking to use more complex and interesting patches in your productions, or you just want to be able to better replicate the sound design you hear in other artists’ tracks, this course is for you.
We created Soundfly’s newest online course, Advanced Synths & Patch Design for Producers, to help you make those better synth sounds, whether you’re a producer looking to up your sound design chops or just want to have some fun diving down a synth-fueled rabbit hole. (Or both?)
In this course, you’ll learn about popular synths, sounds and post-processing techniques as well as strategies for creating better sounds of your own from the ground up. And we’ll teach you to build your own patches by eye and ear using various soft synth plugins, right in your DAW of choice.
From epic house leads, to snarling dubstep basses, and vintage ’80s keyboard sounds, we’ll show you how to create these patches step by step. Along the way, we’ll explain concepts related to subtractive synthesis, wavetable synthesis, FM synthesis, and sampling.
In the end, you’ll have a better idea of what type of synth to reach for in a particular situation, understand the ins and outs of creating patches, how to program better parts with it, and make better custom sounds than you ever thought you could.
The course is taught by Soundfly’s in-house producer, John Hull, but you’ll also hear from four well-known electronic producers, from film composer Ian Hultquist (formerly of the band Passion Pit) to Grammy winner Enrico de Trizio. We’ll be checking out their favorite tools and strategies for making their unique sounds that support their tracks too.

One half audio nerd, one half guitarist, and one half fisherman. Composer, engineer, and synthesist John Hull sometimes talks about synthesizers in his sleep. He enjoys long walks on the beach (as long as fishing is involved) and creating videos and songs for Soundfly’s courses.
