The Songs of the Year 2022

Looking back, there was no shortage of excellent new music in 2022 and given how quickly the year’s gone by, many of us have some serious catching up to do. Luckily, the latest episode of our podcast has arrived to help out.

For this one, Carter and I were joined by not one, not two, not three, but FOUR members of the Soundfly team to discuss “Songs of the Year 2022.” Breaking slightly from our standard show format, this episode shorter discussions around six unique song selections as well as a few rounds of music release trivia questions designed by yours truly.

But wait, there’s more! The episode also includes contributions from the Soundfly community and some not-so quick quickfire questions for the panel.

Episode 59 features special guests Ian Temple, Jeremy Young, John Hull, and Martin Fowler and includes conversations about songs from the catalogues of Harry Styles, Pete and Bas, Dijon, HEALTH, Nine Inch Nails, Black Ox Orkestar, and Moderat.

One of our favorite things about our podcast is the fact that the conversation around each theme is so much bigger than the episode itself. We’d love to hear which songs you would have chosen for this episode! Share them with us on Twitter or, if you’re a Soundfly subscriber, in the #podcast channel on Discord.

Plus, with every new episode of Themes and Variation, we launch a new Spotify playlist that includes the songs mentioned in this episode and more. Here’s this episode’s Spotify playlist!
